What do I need to do?
Step 1. Order your prescription
If you don’t already have a prescription, please use our online service to order new, replacement or repeat prescriptions to be sent to the pharmacy.
Step 2. Book your first scan
Please book your scan for Day 8 of your treatment cycle by emailing the clinic at the appropriate email below stating your 6 digit clinic ID number, name, date of birth and when you need the scan.
Step 3. Preparing for your treatment regime
- Please access www.fertility-information.com to find your injection demonstration (For example Gonal-F).
- Please commence Folic Acid or a prenatal supplement.
***Please ensure you use protection if you have intercourse during the treatment cycle***
Step 4. Starting your treatment medications
- Commence your oral/injection medications as instructed daily. For example your Gonal-F Injections are taken daily/alternate in the evenings and continue until you are instructed to stop.
- You will also commence additional support medications at this time if these have been prescribed for you by your doctor. For example Clexane / Steroids / Aspirin.
Step 5. Let us know when you start your medication
Please send us an email when you have started your medication to email@example.com.
- Please include your patient number in the subject heading
- Also include the date you started your treatment medications
Step 6. The day of your Day 7-8 scan
Please bring 1 box of Cetrotide to your first scan appointment.
If you have been prescribed Ovitrelle instead of Cetrotide, you must use a cooler bag when transporting the medication from the pharmacy to your home.
We will assess your response to the medication when you come for the scan. We will also see if you need to start the Cetrotide injection in order to prevent you ovulating prematurely. If you are instructed to start the Cetrotide, please continue it until you are ready for your trigger (e.g. Gonasi) injection.
Step 7. Print and review your consent forms
Please print and review your consent forms in advance of your final scan. They will need to be signed in person (including your partner) with a member of the First IVF team when you attend for your scan appointment .
Step 8. The day of your Day 9-11 scan
This scan is to see if you are ready for the IUI procedure. If you are ready, you will be advised when to take your trigger injection to ensure your egg releases at the right time. You should then stop any further stimulation (Gonal-F) or Cetrotide injections. This trigger will usually be Gonasi 5000 IU.
If you are not ready for the procedure, you will be asked to attend for a further scan 2-4 days later.
***Male Partners: Please advise that 2-4 days abstinence is required prior to obtaining sperm sample for the IUI procedure.***
Step 9. The IUI procedure
The IUI will take place in our Clane clinic.
Please start your progesterone twice daily (Cyclogest Pessaries / Crinone Gel) vaginally in the morning and evening.
After the procedure you will be given instructions as to which medications to continue and when to attend for your pregnancy blood test. If you are pregnant Cyclogest / Crinone Gel will continue until you are 12 weeks pregnant.
